The Emotion Code®
Sometimes an event is long over, yet the emotional reaction to it lives on in the body and affects how you feel, how you react to people and how you make decisions. The author of the method calls these emotions “trapped”. They show up as inner tension, discomfort, heightened emotional reactivity and recurring patterns of behaviour. The Emotion Code® is an energy method developed in the USA by Dr. Bradley Nelson, aimed at finding and releasing these persistent emotional patterns.

The Emotion Code® is based on the idea that emotions we experience are not always fully processed and can sometimes remain as an emotional-energetic “imprint”. This affects our emotional state, physical reactions, relationships and overall sense of inner stability. Muscle testing – kinesiological feedback – is used to find trapped emotions and gradually reveal the specific emotional theme behind a current reaction.
Separate work is done with the so-called Heart-Wall®. According to the method’s concept, it is a protective emotional pattern that may form after painful experiences. At first the nervous system sees it as a way to ease emotional pain, but later it can prevent a person from feeling closeness, trust and openness in relationships, especially with a partner.
- discomfort, emotional tension and a sense of inner heaviness,
- anxiety, restlessness and heightened emotional sensitivity,
- unexplained irritability or reactions out of proportion to the situation,
- fears, grievances, guilt, shame, sadness or loss,
- the emotional aftermath of difficult or traumatic experiences,
- difficulty letting go of a particular person or situation,
- recurring patterns in relationships,
- difficulties with trust, closeness and emotional openness,
- feeling that you always react the same way, even though you know it no longer helps,
- unexplained inner or physical tension that grows stronger in certain situations.
First we name your goal: the situation, emotional reaction or recurring pattern you want to work with. Using muscle testing and The Emotion Code® chart of emotions, we then explore the emotional themes that, according to the method, may be connected with it. There is no need to retell painful or traumatic events in detail or relive the whole story. The focus is not on a long analysis of the past but on finding a specific emotional pattern and working with it.
Results are individual. After a session people describe a sense of inner lightness, more calm and relaxation, less emotional and physical tension, a calmer view of the situation and weaker habitual reactions. Sometimes the perception of an event itself changes: you remember what happened, but it no longer carries the same emotional charge. Emotional integration may continue for a while after the session, usually a few days. It can feel like lightness and relief, but also like temporarily heightened sensitivity or echoes of the emotions we worked with.
